Simon Richardson, 35, of Sale, has been jailed for a minimum of 25 years after being found guilty of murdering cyclist Michael Mullins. On 20 April, Richardson struck Mr Mullins, 56, a Cumbrian teacher at Stretford Grammar School, with his Volvo on Paddock Lane in Manchester after failing to give way at a junction. Mr Mullins became trapped under the car and Richardson drove 2.2km with him still underneath, at times reaching 60mph, before stopping in Lymm.

A father in Washington state drove back to a house in Bellevue after discovering Christian pamphlets in his son's trick-or-treat bag. The family had included a Bible tract with the message 'Jesus loves you' and information about basic Christian beliefs. The man was filmed confronting the family outside their home, using profanity and objecting to what he described as an attempt to convert children to Christianity.

A man has been jailed for sending a sexually explicit video to a 14-year-old girl he met on a Nottinghamshire bus. The girl and man made contact after encountering each other on public transport in the county.

Eugene Asiedu, 36, of Lewisham, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife following an incident in Islington on 27 October.
